  • The 12-month student offer is available to verified college students in the US. Eligibility requires verification of student status with a valid Microsoft Account (MSA). However, we are aware of and currently trying to remedy a system issue which may cause issues for existing users trying to claim the offer.
  • If you’re already subscribed and encounter an error when trying to redeem the 12-month student offer, follow the instructions below according to your subscription type.

    I am part of a family group/plan under a parent’s account. How do I get the student offer?

    • You must be removed from your family group/plan by the family organizer or account holder (usually a parent).

    • Once removed, sign in with your personal MSA that you will use to verify your student status. 

    • Proceed with purchasing the 12-month student offer using your verified MSA.

    I am a current subscriber on a non-Student plan. How can I switch to the 12-month student offer?

    • You need to cancel your current non-Student plan.

    • After your plan cancellation, wait until your current subscription expires. 

    • If your expiration date falls within the offer’s sign-up window, you can take the 12-month student offer with your existing MSA after your subscription ends and you are eligible.

    • If your expiration date is after the sign-up window for the student offer, you can create a new MSA, verify it as a student, and then claim the 12-month student offer with the new account.

    I am already a Student Subscriber on a monthly student pricing plan. What should I do?

    • Go to your account settings and turn off Auto Renewal for your current student subscription. 

    • When your current student subscription expires (must be within the 12-month student offer sign-up window), you can redeem the new 12-month student offer with your existing verified MSA.

  • If your current subscription’s expiration date is after the offer’s sign-up window, your existing MSA will not be eligible for the offer once you expire. In this case, you may create a new MSA, verify your student status, and redeem the offer if you are still a student.
  • If you continue to experience errors or have questions about your specific situation, please contact customer support for assistance with your account and student verification.
  • This offer is a student discount for Microsoft 365 Personal. It includes productivity apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, 1 TB of cloud storage, and advanced security for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.
